Now i seee, before i was blind.
After maintaining and bettering the lockinfo 235teehanlax theme for a while,
receiving lots of comments, suggestions and complaints,
i got to conclusion that there is only one way to make things better with that theme:
Making it become native.
Gathered the more info and sources as possible on plugins, and by now I’m able to successfully compile one & get it working on the iphone.
so i only have to mod it, & that seems simple if you know objective-C…
BUT I DON’T
So if you guys have some resources to share on that particular programming language,
please share it with me so i can produce the plugin for Date + Weather on top..
rest of theme would only be makeup which is already done

Dave actually asked Saurik and the Element group if he could make a native Element theme for lockinfo and they told him no. At least that’s what he told me on twitter.

Oh, ok then, so let’s make something else!
there are lots of things to do
January 28th, 2010 at 13:58
@ame Any plans/chance to release a rss plugin for your theme which is already great as it is?
January 28th, 2010 at 14:55
So no fix for the Respring problem that occasionally happens randomly?
January 28th, 2010 at 16:17
@DaveP,
Nope, ain’t even searching… waiting for a clue from Mr. Ashman.
Otherwise: this is quite hopeless:
solution i think resides in the memorizing previous data…
wich cannot be done with a refresh of the page…so rewriting everything (good part of it)
make all the JSON data gathered stay in a buffer variable so that if there is no new data received the theme takes data from there.
theme displayed-> settings changed -> 1. (no new weather data)-> display old data
2. (new weather data) -> display new data.
this applies to everything obviously.
Will have a look at it, but thesee days i’m going to be very busy….

Hi ame! Well done for your work it is impressive. I have managed to translate the en to the greek language and providing you wish to add it in your programs I will be happy to email the GR to you.
Keep it up – we all watching you and will assist you in you need it.
Best regards

I understand, I will go back to a prev version you put out there before you incorporated it to the Lockinfo option, which did seem to work fine
Thanks for the great work
PS
If I want to move the very top time on left and weather on the right what file would I edit so I can move them up towards the Status bar a bit. I use Music Control and when a song plays the cover art kinda covers up the time and weather, thanks

@AME
Can you put 1.5 back out for distribution? That one worked just fine for me but now I can’t download it anymore. The constant respring, etc…just makes me want 1.5 back.
January 28th, 2010 at 20:31
I second SupaBrotha’s idea – this respring thing pretty much makes it unusable, but other than having to manually configure 1.5 it was working fine. Would be much appreciated.

Or 0.99 even.

@ame – is it possible to open mails? If yes something is wrong at my iPhone. Lockinfo native theme works, Native Matte theme also, but with your theme there is no change to open my mails via lockscreen.
Any hint?
January 29th, 2010 at 12:38
Hint: Native*
*mine is not.
January 29th, 2010 at 12:57
Wow so many duplicate questions. Maybe you should make an FAQ for the ppl who are too lazy to read the rest of the page…
Anyway, enjoy your vacation

I noticed that the weather icon updates only after I update the weather app on springboard or respring. is this how it’s supposed to be or a bug?
Also I sometimes get the warning to respring to apply setting although I haven’t changed anything. This usually happens in the morning on first use.
January 29th, 2010 at 19:54
I am facing the same problem as Mosec. I get the respring warning even though I made no changes. Is there a way to edit config.js so as to bypass this respring and let lockinfo remain as it is?
January 29th, 2010 at 19:56
Sorry for double posting. What I meant was whether we can remove the code for this respring warning screen in config.js?
January 30th, 2010 at 12:17
I also have to respring in the every morning.
I think it’s at midnight, the weather forecast (5 days preview) changes, we go one day further. I think that’s why we have to respring.
I also noticed a bug in the calendar (the one you by tapping on the current day), on top the days are mixed up. (tested it in English, Dutch)
Mon Thu Sun Wed Sat Tue Fri
28 29 30 31 1 2 3
I do not have to respring to see the weather updates, but I also have the weathericon installed. Maybe that’s why I don’t have this problem

Hi ame235,
Just wanna say thank you for this amazing theme. I love the way it looks and i managed to remove code for the respring screen in config.js as an artificial means of circumventing the haphazard appearance of the respring warning. So far so good (at least it appears the way I want it to) :p
Anyway, can you guide me on how to change my section headers to show “2 New Missed Calls” instead of “Missed Calls (2)”?
Cheers

I got this email thread, too, and the number of people actually responding to the original was only a few.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
